We don't tire of Judah dancing

This is a really funny video. I cry laughing every time I watch it! He makes us laugh so much!

So, Judah is a HUGE fan of the opening credits to the show Chuck. I am not kidding when I tell you that we had to watch the same 30 seconds of a song about 25-30 times (at LEAST!). H did not want to stop! But, Jake and I were laughing so hard that we didn't care. You can't hear Jake laughing much on the video, but every time I looked at him, he was hysterically laughing (quietly). It was a fun time.

After all of these dancing videos, you are probably going to think that we never put Judah in pants. I assure you that we do. After getting his diaper changed (especially in the evening before bed), he jumps up before I get pants on him. This is when he wants to dance and run around.

Have a great week!

A really fun time

Judah and I had a LOT of fun this afternoon, baking cookies of all things to do to have a fun time!

I'd heard of a trick to keep little ones happy and entertained -- put soapy water in the sink and let them play! I was skeptical, but I figured I'd give it a try! So, I put some water in the sink with soap and a plastic cup. Slowly, I added measuring cups and spoons as I made up the cookie dough. I stripped Judah down to his diaper, set him on the counter with his feet in the water, and let him at it. At first, Judah was also skeptical, especially of the bubbles (he doesn't really know what to think of them yet). But, he slowly warmed up to the idea of putting water in the cup and pouring it out! Wow! What fun!

Eventually, Judah started not only pouring out the water from the cup, but shaking it violently as well. I figured that him throwing water into the other sink was no big deal. After a little while, he began pouring just a little water out onto the floor. I could not help but laugh, so it continued. My floor was a little sticky right there anyway, so I just figured he was helping me get the floor cleaned! It was too funny to watch.

Judah kept reaching into the sink to grab things and inspect them. Then, he grabbed the drain, and of course, there went all the water! I figured he would be done. He continued looking around, trying to figure things out. He put the drain back, plugging the water and remaining bubbles. Then, he figured out how to turn on the water. (Yes, I made sure he didn't turn it on hot!)

I was just hoping that he would NOT figure out how the sprayer worked!! Well, my hopes were dashed when he unexpectedly sprayed himself in the chest! He was NOT happy about it, so he put the sprayer back. I fully expected to be sprayed any minute, but I wasn't!!

There was a little bit of a Hershey's candy bar sitting on the window sill (I'd forgotten that it was there!), and I looked up at one point and Judah had it all in his hand, happily eating it.
I knew I could make a choice to be upset and take it away or just let it go and laugh.

I laughed!!! It felt so good to just let go and laugh about it. It was REALLY funny!!
Yes, in the pictures he is holding a handful of chocolate AND a toothbrush!!!

It has been a long time since I've laughed as hard as I did today. I almost wet my pants a few times, because I was laughing so hard! (It has something to do with being pregnant, I'm sure!!!) I feel like God taught me a lesson today, that I can make a choice about things and let things go and not be angry about little things! Yep, I had to get on my hands and knees and clean the floor with rags. Yep, I had to do the same with my counters, Yep, I had to clean chocolate off Judah and wipe him down. Yep, it took me a little longer to mix up the cookies. OH WELL! I know that both Judah and I had a great time laughing and enjoying the moment. I pray today that I will open my eyes in the future to more moments like this and take the time to laugh more.

Have you laughed today? Have you really laughed today?

Baby Update & Judah Dancing - again

It seems like dancing in a diaper is Judah's new before-bed routine! He just loves to dance without his clothes on! Haha! He is quite the entertainer!

Yesterday, we had our mid-pregnancy ultrasound to make sure the baby is growing correctly and developing normally. God is so faithful, and we got a great report! It was just so awesome to be able to see the developing baby and how different it was compared to the 12-week sonogram!
The first picture is the feet. They said the feet look big!

We found out that the baby is measuring big. My original due date was August 22. After another ultrasound, it was changed to August 17. Yesterday, they said that the estimated due date based on the baby's size is August 12. That's 10 days difference from the original due date! The next picture is the baby's belly and arms. With the baby measuring BIG, I would like to go earlier!!! Haha! Please be praying for God's timing in this area!

It was also comforting to find out that I haven't been feeling every little movement because the placenta is on my belly, so it is keeping me from being able to feel every-little-thing. I feel a lot in my sides, which I was just thinking was regular pregnancy pain from my belly stretching. But, now I know that I am being kicked! :)

The next picture is the spine. The tech doing the ultra sound had the device on my belly, just getting it turned on, and Jake said, "It's a boy!" I laughed and said, "Whatever. You don't know that." He swears he saw it. But then one of the first shots we saw was the bottom and legs. The tech started talking about the bladder (which we could see clearly), and I pointed at the screen and said, "Is that a boy???" She stopped and said, "Yes, it certainly is."
The remainder of the time I was in awe of God's creation and the toughness of the little boy growing inside of me.
With the hemorrhage far behind, I look forward to the remaining months of pregnancy and God's precious gift in this baby boy. He will be a great addition to our family. With each pregnancy (and some minor challenges they have given me), I grow closer to God and my faith grows. The next picture is the baby's leg - from the hip down to the foot.

I still don't know how anyone can be pregnant without a continued faith in God, the creator of life.

Move It, Move It - Judah-style

Judah loves the movie Madagascar. The song (a favorite of Chris's, too) "Move it, Move it" always makes him start dancing. I hope you enjoy the video!

The poll

I am watching the poll daily, and the results are very interesting! It seems that both families would LOVE to have a GIRL around! haha. We are pretty full of little boys around here. Only time will tell . . .

I had to post the picture of Judah "putting together" his little chair. He watched Jake (and kind of helped) put it together, so afterward he took the drill and did it himself. Too cute!

ENT Appointment

And the verdict is . . . Judah is fine. The ENT tested his hearing, which was great. They saw no fluid in the ears at all. The doctor said it was most likely his teeth giving him all the trouble with his runny nose, lack of appetite, and tugging on his ears. This was actually comforting to know that nothing serious was going on. Whew!

I am feeling better tonight. I am actually sitting here, munching on an apple. Yummm! I am starting to crave fruit now, which is good since it is almost in season! :) I'm ready for cantelope, watermelon, apples, oranges, etc.

I have a poll on the right side of the blog, so you can guess whether or not we're having a boy or a girl. I have my idea, but I want to see what YOU think!

You have about 20 days left to decide what you want to vote on. We will most likely be revealing the sex of the baby to everyone. :) So, cast your vote TODAY! (please?)

Thank you again for all of your prayers. All FOUR of us appreciate them!

These are my flowers from valentines day - a total surprise!

This is Judah and his new "big boy" chair. The book was completely him -- we did not "pose" him for that picture at all! He really likes having a seat that is all his own.

Another bout with the flu

This week has been a challenging one to say the least. I was frustrated early on, feeling like I was never going to get rid of my "cold." I have chalked it up to just being part of my pregnancy. *sigh* Ah, the joy...

Over the weekend, Judah started to act like he didn't feel good. He wouldn't eat (our first clue). He slept horribly! He just didn't act like himself at all. Sunday, he had the worst diapers EVER. It was not fun for ANY of us! Monday we had a doctor's appointment (merely a follow-up), and we talked about the possiblities of what all of those symptoms could be. I suggested that it could simply be his teeth that are coming in. Four molars along with others...that's gotta hurt! He hasn't wanted to eat anything he'd have to "chew." Our doctor thought that was a real possibility.
After looking in his ears, she determined that he had fluid in one ear and the other was red. So, she referred us to an Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) doctor. That appointment is scheduled for today. We are hoping they just say it's his teeth and will go away with time or the help of antibiotic.

Monday morning, Jake went to the doctor to have his throat dilated again. He'd been having quite a bit of trouble with swallowing food again, so they decided dilation was the best thing to do for him. They also put him on a new medicine to hopefully help and not have to dilate so often. So, Jake spent Monday (literally all day) sleeping, and he slept all night as well! Talk about vacation from the world! He is doing well now!

Monday night, I started to feel terrible. I hadn't been hungry all day but tried to eat some bread for dinner. Later, I was throwing up that bread, wishing I had listened to my body and NOT eaten it! It was a very rough night for me, especially with Judah not sleeping well either.

Luckily, Jake's mom, Jan, had Tuesday off work, so she took Judah for me so I could really rest. I was so miserable all day. After eating some chicken & noodle soup, I slept for 2 1/2 hours, so obviously I needed that! By bedtime last night I was feeling a lot better. Today, I feel even better and feel like I can eat without worry (as much).

Thank you all for your prayers this week. They have been much appreciated!

#2 on the way

Judah started out as a baby who didn't really like the bath. Now, he LOVES being in the bathtub at night. Whenever I say, "Okay, bud, it's time for a bath." he literally RUNS to the bathroom and tries to get into the tub. He loves to splash and soak me -- he thinks it's hilarious.

I now only have 6 months left in my pregnancy -- WooHoo!! This baby is one tough cookie for sure. He/She has gone through a lot already. Diagnosed early-on with a sub-chorionic hemorrhage, I was put on semi-bedrest. Luckily, Judah plays so well on his own already, so he did well while I stayed on the couch or floor beside him. He is an amazing kid!

Our last sonogram one week ago showed a healthy little (tiny) baby kicking away happily -- with no hemorrhage in sight! Praise the Lord!!! We are so grateful for God's faithfulness to us and our new little baby.

We all seem to be on the mend this week. We took Judah to another doctor's appointment, which resulted in all of us feeling emotionally better. Our doctor seems like she really does care about us and especially about Judah and his health. We talked with her about our frustrations over the past week and our difficulty with a different doctor. She was touched and went beyond nice to make us feel at ease about Judah's health.

We do hope that this is the week that we all start feeling better. I am still not feeling wonderful (better, but not great). Judah isn't sleeping great, so I am not either! Now, Jake is getting this awful cold and is down for the count.
I just want spring to get here so I can air out my house! Who's with me??

Feeling Blessed

Well, with the sudden order to sit more and do less, I find myself finding reading materials from all over. While Judah naps, I drink in different books. Well after a year of receiving a gift of my grandpa's book of his life, I finally find myself with TIME to read it. What a gift his story is!

While reading about Grandpa's young life, I found myself feeling so blessed about what I have in my life. I have electricity in my house. I have running water. I have a toilet in my heated bathroom -- with all the toilet paper that I ever want to use (within reason!). I have more than enough food in my kitchen, with a lot of leftovers that go bad before we eat them. I have a constant connection to the world -- internet (most important!) and television. These are all things that we take for granted.

I was shocked the most at the condition of the house that Grandpa grew up in. No heat. None. (Except the wood stove in the kitchen.) On a day when I am writing and it is 16 degrees outside with a cold cold wind that bitterly swipes at your skin, it makes me so grateful for an overly warm house. It makes me run to the thermostat and turn it down and find a nice sweater to wear. Instead of sheetrock or plaster on the walls, the builder stretched cheesecloth over the 2x4s and put wallpaper over that. Can you imagine this wind coming into a house like that? Oh, the complaining that we would all do!!

I write this today to not only document my own thoughts about how blessed I am, but to encourage you to look around and see how truly blessed you are as well. We have SO MUCH that they didn't have in the 40s and 50s, during the depression and World War II. Even in the midst of a recession and hard times, we have it much better than my great-grandparents did in their early marriage.

I look to God and thank Him for blessing me in so many ways. I hope you do the same, just for one moment today. Slow down, look around you and take in the wonderful blessings that you have.

I'm off now to turn my heat down a bit and get a fleece pullover to wear.
I leave you with a fantastic picture of Judah playing with a flashlight. He thought it was pretty fun to be in the dark hallway and watch the light on the walls.

10 Days Until Christmas

It's December, and it certainly feels like it. Currently, in our little town, it is a whopping 1 degree. However, it makes me glad I don't live in Denver (Sorry, Rob & Elan!) where it is -17 degrees. Yes, that is a NEGATIVE! I'm also glad I don't live in Minnesota or the Dakotas where they've gotten FEET of snow!

With 10 days left until Christmas, Jake and I have tried to make sure we have all of the Christmas presents that we need. We also got our Christmas cards ordered and will get those sent out SOON.

Jake and I actually started opening Christmas presents a couple of weeks ago. I got to open a brand new Dell laptop. (it's tangerine!) Also, Jake got the new blackberry touch and has been learning the ins-and-outs of it. Jake also got a brand new camera that is really fancy! We took pictures for our Christmas cards last night.

So, we have had a great Christmas so far. It's been full of joy and laughter and gifts and surprises. We are exicted for this season and the fun that it will be.

I will put pictures of Judah up later. I don't have any of the pictures on my new computer.

Merry Christmas!!
