<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is hard to believe that my sweet little Brody is now three years old. He's such an amazing kid. He makes us laugh in the greatest ways. And he's so loving and thoughtful. Without being asked, he will say "thank you" for the simplest things. Even three days after his birthday, he hugged Jake and said, "Thank you for my birthday party, Daddy." (He repeated with me.) So sweet!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The party was a success with great-grandparents, grandparents, cousins, siblings, and parents. Brody had a lot of fun. We had a monster truck party, which is something Brody is really loving right now. He got new monster trucks and has been jumping them on everything he can around the house. There's one in particular that has gone to bed with him a few times already.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Brody struggled a bit with the candles. His aim was off. A lot. But it was funny. He got help from his siblings on either side. I'm sure we all had a little spit on our cake. But, they are all so cute, it's okay. :) </div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgamoZBc1e_sSo-edyzrFMzo-W46E5WFrU4Felx3iMVE-qQLCpi-9LEJ6V8XzZuRmy7TnufKAOn8sOXgFZMdWjUeaZ_WVrHnfVRa9j8agy3zWKrCZ-EJdyRYn6krv5rmRo9oq7L8aCSdfc/s1600/Monhollon+family+2012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img $ca="true" border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgamoZBc1e_sSo-edyzrFMzo-W46E5WFrU4Felx3iMVE-qQLCpi-9LEJ6V8XzZuRmy7TnufKAOn8sOXgFZMdWjUeaZ_WVrHnfVRa9j8agy3zWKrCZ-EJdyRYn6krv5rmRo9oq7L8aCSdfc/s320/Monhollon+family+2012.jpg" width="294" /></a></div>
This is the entire Monhollon Family, as of April 2012. There will be another addition in August. Wow. That's a LOT of little kids. They are all under the age of 4. :) Fun times. Loud times. Awesome. <br />
<br />
Judah is 4 and will start preschool in the fall. I'm happy for him but sad too. I feel like our lazy times together at home are quickly coming to an end. He will soon be busy with friends, homework, sports, and the like. He's getting big so fast! He likes to make up his own jokes (that make no sense), and he also has learned that he likes to prank others (especially daddy). <br />
<br />
Brody will be 3 in August. He is talking SO much lately. Often, Judah has to translate what he says, but it's all so cute. He has been completely potty trained for such a long time by now, and I am so proud of him for that. He likes to do things by himself, but then on some occassions he demands help on the simplest tasks. He's so funny, too. He loves to make others laugh. <br />
<br />
Ava is 18 months and ornery as ever. Her newest thing is diving off furniture, head-first. She did this at the doctor's office recently and about gave the doctor a heart-attack. I had her by the hand, because I know better, so she was fine. She also likes to stand atop furniture and jump off to see if she can land on her feet. She's a ball of energy and gumption. She has no fear of anything. With the exception of mommy leaving her behind. <br />
<br />
Baby #4 is due at the end of August. Mommy has about 6 weeks left in her pregnancy. Names have been a bit of a problem with this one. We had a boy name picked out pretty easily, but since it is a girl... We just can't make a decision on her name. Jake likes Brooklyn and Finley. I like Emily. Jake hates Emily. Just between us, I keep hoping he will change his mind about it. (He won't. He's pretty stubborn...)<br />
<br />
Fun times. Loud times. Awesome stuff. <br />

Turns out, it's nearly impossible to do from my phone. I added photos in November, but then I couldn't add any text. It was frustrating. So, from time-to-time, I may just add random photos without much information. It just happens like that.<br /><br />Ava is almost one, and I can't believe how quickly the past year has gone. She is walking, almost running, everywhere. She is ready to join in with the boys on anything they are doing, including going down the stairs, which she doesn't do well. She is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen. I am truly blessed to be her mom. She brings such joy into our home, and I am beyond grateful to know her!<br /><br />Brody is really starting to blossom. He is talking so very much now, when he doesn't feel too shy. He loves to laugh, which is really quite catching if you hear his belly laugh. He will often say something (usually something I don't understand), and then follow it with a huge laugh, like what he just said is hilarious! It's fun to watch. He will now randomly just say, "I love you." to everyone, and if they don't understand him, he'll turn to me and say, "(so-and-so) doesn't love me." with a pout. I have to translate for him, and then everything is fine.<br /><br />Judah turned four in November, and that kid cracks me up all the time. His humor is maturing, so jokes are really fun with him. Even today, he walked behind Jake and mimicked everything Jake was doing, and it was really funny. Judah fell to the floor laughing when Jake figured out what Judah was up to. Judah is also a fantastic big brother. He really does take good care of Brody and Ava. He loves to have that responsibility to look after younger kids.<br /><br />I am looking forward to a very playful year ahead with my children. I am so blessed. Even through our tough times last fall, I realize how blessed I am. This year, I am trying to be intentional about spending time with my kids and really being playful, to show them that life can be playful and fun!<br /><br />What will you be doing in the year ahead to be intentional with your life?Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-45751005805682807392011-11-07T13:32:00.001-06:002011-11-07T13:45:41.278-06:00Updates in November<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCaozelFKmbxa0ldbCrRSdfCwiRxCDAqH1_a7YrrhtwXLREzQlYN_oYImDoEjfedovSY47ZHmiZZdVGh62L1uiu5jadU_6MCw3akAQeQ3Js7SFDhVGsZFe89uS50i3g24l5g-L3Y0tiLQ/s1600/110411220143.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 382px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCaozelFKmbxa0ldbCrRSdfCwiRxCDAqH1_a7YrrhtwXLREzQlYN_oYImDoEjfedovSY47ZHmiZZdVGh62L1uiu5jadU_6MCw3akAQeQ3Js7SFDhVGsZFe89uS50i3g24l5g-L3Y0tiLQ/s400/110411220143.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672340442645259490" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfnS8RQ1Xuvxh9kHEEwG-pnmIPk__sT0VAfEss5kOH3KyvaEQPmOk4gx648S-nHpjjSzr6a8JmN_BWRVktH1CTQCeJUMkAqGgpX_uA9Zu-7MCHNgLNlkXR0ImnU9V7BoDbUohaFxBpFFI/s1600/2011-10-24_12-18-30_649.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfnS8RQ1Xuvxh9kHEEwG-pnmIPk__sT0VAfEss5kOH3KyvaEQPmOk4gx648S-nHpjjSzr6a8JmN_BWRVktH1CTQCeJUMkAqGgpX_uA9Zu-7MCHNgLNlkXR0ImnU9V7BoDbUohaFxBpFFI/s400/2011-10-24_12-18-30_649.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672340441331764322" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguwCWm7n_e4xQoLGLlAEjawOaGbruVPIpG98nNl4a1urXLBcfZ289FPush9eSQDvm-3WoiGiCTcvAUKEZOFGJEgMVORYzSFWffTYtG5kdfUoKU2Yc1UzTqt2XJHweiW4Ub1w58Jp0mc18/s1600/102811130514.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 270px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguwCWm7n_e4xQoLGLlAEjawOaGbruVPIpG98nNl4a1urXLBcfZ289FPush9eSQDvm-3WoiGiCTcvAUKEZOFGJEgMVORYzSFWffTYtG5kdfUoKU2Yc1UzTqt2XJHweiW4Ub1w58Jp0mc18/s400/102811130514.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672340431496817218" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXzinxb-qAOBWw4k_JDz_IYpIzjLesxjIKh3Pis5Gro-8CXg-QJ2AtPzJlkd11A2Y-a9A97q3XEWydYg9wFbmNX49AvzNIjtVoU_0iVUB94WIg4Lybodfgs-dJuy6fVjTxXtJcPTkvY_U/s1600/2011-10-28_13-02-52_116.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 225px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXzinxb-qAOBWw4k_JDz_IYpIzjLesxjIKh3Pis5Gro-8CXg-QJ2AtPzJlkd11A2Y-a9A97q3XEWydYg9wFbmNX49AvzNIjtVoU_0iVUB94WIg4Lybodfgs-dJuy6fVjTxXtJcPTkvY_U/s400/2011-10-28_13-02-52_116.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672340428143827218" /></a>Ava at 9 months. I found a book about how to make monsters, and I thought, "I can do that!" I didn't buy the book, but I made up my own patterns and created these little monsters. After all of the hours of sewing and hand-stitching, I began to think they were going to bomb with the kids. But, I plugged on anyway. Turns out, the kids all loved the monsters! (At least most of them.... I didn't get comments back from everyone.) <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRNpmcGT40KZgI1yDufcDs5KUZXgQNHIt6n2G37jXkjbFVTeh3hkzD0Hd8XysSEEVwcw2ar-2weTEAZowpnpop5MMoSqr2oL8XiQRUB1UqH4VyvB5gSLRSUt-7qPlXZa4CbWSiG0Umzhs/s1600/DSCN3922.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558042592032446114" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRNpmcGT40KZgI1yDufcDs5KUZXgQNHIt6n2G37jXkjbFVTeh3hkzD0Hd8XysSEEVwcw2ar-2weTEAZowpnpop5MMoSqr2oL8XiQRUB1UqH4VyvB5gSLRSUt-7qPlXZa4CbWSiG0Umzhs/s400/DSCN3922.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN5-EhSfnjAsaIyolJuiLbOaKpn5gzc8LESikl6Zm53bbSpvGlDHgDwsLay_A3rWEBLgnD0gu3yH0Rsxhk92az_mo8FMoeMh70bFTVFfwlfP7svzDM0NAyveXKVguM3SebTNdr1LeleCE/s1600/DSCN3925.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558042585338705954" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN5-EhSfnjAsaIyolJuiLbOaKpn5gzc8LESikl6Zm53bbSpvGlDHgDwsLay_A3rWEBLgnD0gu3yH0Rsxhk92az_mo8FMoeMh70bFTVFfwlfP7svzDM0NAyveXKVguM3SebTNdr1LeleCE/s400/DSCN3925.JPG" /></a></div></div></div></div><br /><p> </p><p> </p><p>These little beasts were fun to make. Life is moving along at a pretty steady pace. On Labor Day weekend (Jake's birthday), we spent one night camping out. Well...kind of. We set up a tent at Jake's parent's house, and Jake & Judah slept in the tent. Brody and his pregnant Mama slept inside. </div><div> </div><div>Judah was thrilled to have a camp out. We made a little fire and roasted marshmallows and had smores. YUM! Everyone loved that. Judah especially loved putting the marshmallows into the fire. He enjoyed learning about how a marshmallow will eventually just melt and fall off into the fire. At first, it horrified him that his marshmallow was GONE, but then he thought it was cool, so he kept doing it.<br /></div><div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnz4AHUVqCsqnjTfa29HEdhgYlMd7uSxCao2LxxdzTgXsZ2oucvXkOCCoWRPWyaBbFSWIfiuJBzjnCEIFMEwnznj92JCo8rddUDedRT2MdCsZIz4WogSfBwk8ITuN6s_Uesf9zC7jll-M/s1600/DSCN3695.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516958318129691058" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnz4AHUVqCsqnjTfa29HEdhgYlMd7uSxCao2LxxdzTgXsZ2oucvXkOCCoWRPWyaBbFSWIfiuJBzjnCEIFMEwnznj92JCo8rddUDedRT2MdCsZIz4WogSfBwk8ITuN6s_Uesf9zC7jll-M/s400/DSCN3695.JPG" /></a> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Here is Daddy and the boys with the fire in the background. I love their smiles. We had a great time that weekend together as a family. </div><div> </div><div>Funny story: Jake and Judah were sleeping pretty good in the tent. It was the middle of the night, maybe around 1:30am. Suddenly, Jake heard the door to the tent unzip pretty quickly, as if someone was coming in. Jake jumped up. Then, our dog, Roscoe, joined him in the tent. He must have gotten his nose in the corner of the doorway and done it just right to open the door. He REALLY wanted to sleep inside that night. And he REALLY wanted to be near his family. So, he slept in the tent with the boys, too. </div><div> </div><div>We will be going camping again in the future. We aren't the rustic type, so I'm sure it won't be much more than what we did that weekend. It was still really fun, and our boys enjoyed it a lot. It was full of star gazing, roasting marshmallows, playing outside, and most of all a close bathroom and shower. :) We all had a great time. </div></div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-27110796937637465672010-08-25T21:02:00.013-05:002010-08-25T21:32:14.190-05:00It's a....? Part 2<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPdGJ1gJBGQGDQNRj_ZN4mEmGJXmCHXGnoMH59RGKkr5mu0hD5G-aMpWBfd7w-5Lz84ahUVqeKdlMZIL3lodtJ69v-kFfNUZq45CmjfmNb5f_cmiXKYNniNFO3b78iQKpK71QZe_-1V-s/s1600/Brody+bottle.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509533643604391762" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPdGJ1gJBGQGDQNRj_ZN4mEmGJXmCHXGnoMH59RGKkr5mu0hD5G-aMpWBfd7w-5Lz84ahUVqeKdlMZIL3lodtJ69v-kFfNUZq45CmjfmNb5f_cmiXKYNniNFO3b78iQKpK71QZe_-1V-s/s400/Brody+bottle.jpg" /></a><br /><div>We were on our way to drop the boys off at Jake's parent's house, and Brody was drinking milk from a bottle. He must have been so tired, because before we knew it, he was asleep. Judah said, "Haha! Look at Brody!" We were all laughing pretty hard for a few miles. He was pretty exhausted after his one-year appointment and getting shots this morning. Poor thing. </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>On a bright side, he was a really tough little boy when it came to getting shots. He didn't flinch with the first shot, but the second 2 were pretty painful for him. He cried for a quick moment and was done. I was amazed. He was quickly himself again afterwards -- playing and laughing with Judah. He is a tough boy. <p></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>We went to our sonogram this afternoon. I was excited just to SEE the baby! Getting to find out the gender was just a perk of actually seeing a real baby in my belly. My belly didn't really "pop" until this past week, so it hasn't felt really real. (Even though I've been feeling some kicks and jabs...) </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><p>The question I got most often when people discovered I was pregnant is this: "Are you hoping for a girl?" My answer: "No. Not at all. I'm hoping for a healthy little baby. A boy would be easy, since we have everything for a boy. A girl would be fine, and she would add a little chaos to our little family. But God knows what we need." And I truly felt that way. I wasn't ever hoping for either gender. Just a healthy baby. <p></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>The moment the tech put the machine to my belly, I saw the baby. Oh, it was so cool. I will never tire of getting to see a growing baby in my belly. I am always in awe of God and His amazing craftmanship. He knits all these babies (including you and me) together in the most amazing and delicate way. It is just awesome. We got to see baby kicking and moving around. It helped me realize why my side kept hurting: baby feet were kicking away in one particular spot. We have a very active little baby! <p></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>The tech kept getting shots of the bottom side of baby, pointing out the bladder, kidneys, and stomach. I just kept thinking, "I don't see any boy parts there." I kept looking at Jake, who was just watching quietly. Finally, the tech said, "It looks like we have a little girl." I was shocked. Happy. A little later, the tech was looking around again, and I said, "Are you sure it's a girl?" She checked again and said, "Yes." Jake chimed in (reminding me), "We've seen a boy on the screen. That isn't a boy."<p></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>My mind was having a hard time processing it. Of course I was very happy to have a healthy baby growing in my belly. <em>A girl. I'm having a girl. </em>It just seemed like such a foreign thought after convincing myself it was most likely a boy. I praised God for a healthy little baby girl. </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><p>I had my appointment with my midwife afterwards. The nurse took me to get weighed in. She said, "You had your sonogram. Did you find out the sex?" I felt like I was dreaming as I said in a semi-confused voice, "Yes. (pause, because it seemed weird to say aloud) It's....a... It's a girl." </div><div></div><div></div><div><p></div><div></div><div>We bought a little pink outfit for her for next summer. I had Judah pull it out of my purse. He looked confused as if asking, "What is this for?" I told him he would have a sister. He smiled. Then he said, "So we didn't get a boy?" I laughed. He is very excited to have a sister, though. Before bed, he asked to see my belly. He leaned over and gave my belly a kiss. Then, after our prayers he whispered, "I love my baby sister." (Universal AWWWWW! please!)<p> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>So, that's the whole long story of our day. It's been a blessed day with beautiful weather, fun times with the boys, great news of a healthy baby, and a sunset walk in the beautiful weather! </div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-67104187322281033852010-08-24T10:25:00.004-05:002010-08-24T10:41:42.638-05:00It's a....?<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMRxbFDA1lyJgLkKa8NKoYy66xQYaXaGZgs2Y7xicC7HGPCRQq6sV3l9bdZ-2yiEQIgiKCyy5lOtN9CvomQPVr3-5BqX6brAoNkCW7RxQpLCZhFqi86aSYTV5YGKoSzMOVINB2yUwkMSY/s1600/boys+sitting.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5508998329748191506" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMRxbFDA1lyJgLkKa8NKoYy66xQYaXaGZgs2Y7xicC7HGPCRQq6sV3l9bdZ-2yiEQIgiKCyy5lOtN9CvomQPVr3-5BqX6brAoNkCW7RxQpLCZhFqi86aSYTV5YGKoSzMOVINB2yUwkMSY/s400/boys+sitting.jpg" /></a> I can't ever resist putting a cute picture of the boys up whenever I post . . . about anything. Judah is such a fantastic big brother. If Brody is sitting (like here in the picture) and playing, Judah will go and intentionally sit next to him just to be close. I am blessed to have such sweet boys who love each other.<br /><br />My main reason for writing today is to hear from YOU (whoever might be reading this today...). I go in to the doctor's office tomorrow afternoon for our ULTRASOUND!!! We are all excited to actually see the baby . . . and of course hope to learn the baby's gender, too. We are curious to hear what you think. Are we having a boy or a girl? <br /><br />I hope you don't fall into the trap that Judah falls into everytime we ask him this question. If I ask it like this: "Are we having a boy or a girl?" His answer is always, "Girl." If I ask it like this: "Are we having a girl or a boy?" He says "Boy." See what he's doing? He just says the last thing we say. It's awfully cute.<br /><br />So, you have until tomorrow early evening to post a comment and add your two cents. What is your vote?<br /><br />Don't be afraid to tell me what you think! It's no big deal if you're wrong! You have a 50/50 chance here.Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-59362177859277863832010-07-15T22:10:00.022-05:002010-07-15T22:38:05.180-05:00Which Way?<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguFBs0vvUeV9j3Nen8Dxi9PjAaozbNLQWq5laB-UipTUx-Hp-ewGtnu66Unn71aZO6QfsxBCJNcJKITQxTEuPcKbcRogUtRpnNh9Ajjwgf8ArS5ZPW_7leN318AO-RKuZy8azhl9pBJCQ/s1600/IMG_0750.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5494338146205506674" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguFBs0vvUeV9j3Nen8Dxi9PjAaozbNLQWq5laB-UipTUx-Hp-ewGtnu66Unn71aZO6QfsxBCJNcJKITQxTEuPcKbcRogUtRpnNh9Ajjwgf8ArS5ZPW_7leN318AO-RKuZy8azhl9pBJCQ/s400/IMG_0750.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Judah has great faith in Jake to catch him when he jumps off the diving board. He just wants to know "Right" or "Left." Jake and I tell him, and he's happy to know exactly which way we are going. He doesn't ask why (this is a BIG thing, because he asks "WHY?" to EVERYTHING!!!). Judah is just okay with knowing which direction we are going. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>This concept seems kind of advanced for a 2 year old, but we are glad to help him learn his directions whenever he's ready for that. </div><div></div><br /><br /><div>Not too long after Judah started asking "Which way, Mommy/Daddy?" I heard a sermon in which the pastor just merely mentioned letting God sit in the driver seat. It hit me that I should be exactly like my 2 year old: I should be in the back seat (securely fastened into my seat), and simply ask God, "Which way?" at every intersection of my life. I should also just simply say, "Okay, God." and stop asking Him, "Why?" </div><br /><br /><div></div><div>I am so thankful for the life-lessons that my young boy teaches me. He just opens my eyes to the way I should be with my Heavenly Father. He amazes me. He was insistant. I gave in, thinking he might actually surprise me. He did. </div><div></div><div>Not only did he do a great job feeding his little brother, but he really enjoyed it. He made it a pretty messy meal, but it was fun for everyone. </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div><br /> </div><div>Judah manages to make us laugh so much every day. </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div>Tonight, I wasn't feeling good (head-cold, ugh!), so I asked Jake to put Judah to bed so I could get ready for bed and rest. Jake came to me after awhile and said Judah was asking for "My Mommy." Jake told Judah, "Mommy doesn't feel good. Should we pray for Mommy?" Judah said, "Yes." And then he prayed, "God, make Mommy -- My Mommy feel better, pleeeeeaaassseee." </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div> </div><div><br /> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Sunday, I went to church early for worship team practice, and when I left, both boys were dressed and ready to go to church. Jake told me before Sunday School that Judah changed shirts. (Even though I put him in the shirt he asked for. Anyway...) He wanted to wear his dinosaur shirt, Jake was telling me. Jake put it on him, and Judah shook his head and said, "Mommy's gonna be mad." Jake asked him why, but he just kept repeating, "Mommy's gonna be mad." </div><div><br /></div><div>So, Jake asked me why I would be mad that he was wearing that shirt. I had to explain, because it really is funny that Judah thought him wearing it would make me mad. </div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>Judah wanted to wear that dinosaur shirt maybe a week or two ago. It was just a normal day at home, and we were going to be playing outside. This shirt is new (not something we have a lot of -- "new" shirts) -- one I bought on sale a year ago. This particular shirt is also WHITE with dinosaurs on the front. I realize now that when I bought it, I wasn't really thinking about a young man wearing WHITE. But, live and learn. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, when Judah wanted to wear it, I just flippantly said, "No, we aren't going to wear the dinosaur shirt now. It's a nice shirt and we don't want it to get dirty. We need at least one nice white shirt." </div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>So, Judah thought that since I told him he couldn't wear it then, that I would be upset with him wearing it AT ALL. After Jake told me that Judah repeated, "Mommy's gonna be mad," I busted up laughing. (I laugh out loud - literally - now just remembering it.) Everyone in our Sunday School kept looking at us, wondering what our deal was, but I just couldn't stop laughing. </div><div><br /></div><div>Oh, the beautiful mind of a 2 year old! <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqc_G7fA0s6-d6GW8YoxQDV0vphU7w1kUzGdINCZK20I3UtXb7uDabRdct_lRLHaWVurqZLwcfkx9JxgoaArNscdOxQm3oJID10SsINzuk-jkYXE1vu31YU5CiL8t0_HWSop9yrNANQ2s/s1600/Judah+dirt.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473179113923597122" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqc_G7fA0s6-d6GW8YoxQDV0vphU7w1kUzGdINCZK20I3UtXb7uDabRdct_lRLHaWVurqZLwcfkx9JxgoaArNscdOxQm3oJID10SsINzuk-jkYXE1vu31YU5CiL8t0_HWSop9yrNANQ2s/s400/Judah+dirt.jpg" /></a></div><div> </div><div> </div><div></div><div>This is a picture of Judah showing me his dirt on his hands and knees. They make messes and get dirty, and undo all the cleaning I do. (Read: Brody managed to get ahold of an almost-empty sleeve of crackers and shake it all over the floor. I cleaned it up saying, "Oh, I love you dear. I love you.") But, I wouldn't trade any of it for anything. The fact that they make me laugh with such simple things is worth more than anything you can offer. </div></div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-86521627224951232352010-05-18T12:44:00.004-05:002010-05-18T13:07:46.783-05:00Being Sensitive<div>As most everyone knows, it has been raining a ton here in Kansas. Last week, we went to the park after a day of rain. The woodchips under the playground were very waterlogged and messy. The sandbox was completely full of water. It was awful.<br /></div><div>What was worse was that someone left a little baby doll at the park on the ground, missing an arm. I moved the sopping-wet doll to the bench to dry out and hoped the owner might return for it. </div><br /><div>As we were leaving, some Jr. High kids came into the park to play. A boy took the doll by a leg and started making sarcastic comments like, "Anyone want to play with a doll? Haha!" He then went on to take the doll to the "pool" of a sandbox and flung the doll into the water with great gusto. </div><br /><div>Judah watched the whole thing with shock. I didn't really think anything of it until bedtime many hours later. We went on about our walk and the rest of our night. </div><br /><div>Then, Judah and I began talking at bedtime about the day. He was stuck on the baby doll being flung into the water. He was really upset about it. I could see the worry and pain in his eyes in thinking about the well-being of the baby doll after it had been thrown so thoughtlessly. It pained me to see him so worried and upset about the doll. So, I drove (in the dark) to the park and "rescued" the baby doll from the water. I also retrived the doll's arm from the water. </div><div></div><br /><div>I got home and Judah was still awake. So, I talked to him about the doll. I told him that mommy had taken care of the doll and it was downstairs ready for mommy to clean. He seemed instantly relieved that the doll was no longer in distress. </div><div></div><br /><div>This morning, I fixed the doll's arm and found some clothes for it. I asked Judah what the baby's name was, and he seemed indecisive. He started by saying, "Mommy. Daddy." Then he said, "Mitch." I have no idea where he got that, but that's what he said. After lunch, he kept going back and forth between "Mitch" and "Rich." We'll see later what he finally settles on. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBsqVcLyXU2V2rRkNb-uIxKTXLPkQviItr6qR72OaUujQoAgwDugzriZWqgK8ZxEgnWjkO8Ztwh28pZIQO6N5Y6zEFrpDdtJtMlbwohekT3wOcrCX3whQMWjIBbQ3zjwQOhSBOdyoQk80/s1600/judah+doll.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5472670732234654386" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBsqVcLyXU2V2rRkNb-uIxKTXLPkQviItr6qR72OaUujQoAgwDugzriZWqgK8ZxEgnWjkO8Ztwh28pZIQO6N5Y6zEFrpDdtJtMlbwohekT3wOcrCX3whQMWjIBbQ3zjwQOhSBOdyoQk80/s400/judah+doll.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div></div>This is Judah cuddling with the baby (and Monkey). He really enjoys taking care of the baby.<br /><div>I love seeing Judah's care and concern for a "baby" that he thought was in distress. I know it won't last, but I enjoy seeing such wonderful innocence from him now. </div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-38657194766113641352010-05-07T21:12:00.006-05:002010-05-07T21:50:35.318-05:00God is ALWAYS here<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaqQsvuT9iDqoYgVbzSR7o8i1HHiGMeavybk8HXv3tx9M8wMvBRduB3OkT_OBVzEdEQTEBu0Llxs0JJgKUOwHZqyjK9OmhmnGiubUgtBXL8mPlmvA1DVgCRmvACRe47udvgszpqGeo5G4/s1600/Brody+smile.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5468726128968157810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaqQsvuT9iDqoYgVbzSR7o8i1HHiGMeavybk8HXv3tx9M8wMvBRduB3OkT_OBVzEdEQTEBu0Llxs0JJgKUOwHZqyjK9OmhmnGiubUgtBXL8mPlmvA1DVgCRmvACRe47udvgszpqGeo5G4/s400/Brody+smile.jpg" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNatCC2ISnrf_qT-jVhU5nPu8FG4s_PQ6ROmgZdk2c7H0TZpfpT7HtBWvnSio0BUkOAgTSauFjFF2wgh2vO6lRKkKXm-vkMjAjdZSGsHOz4-_jFUxaDUQyzCrc32cyQb1HAweky7ypUeU/s1600/Brody+swing.jpg"></a>The things Judah says on a daily basis never cease to amaze me. He is so cute and funny with his wonderful imagination.<br /><br />I was working on mixing paint in the garage while Brody was napping, and Judah was with me, just playing with the jogging stroller (the old one) while I was busy working with the paint. I was talking with Judah while I worked, as I always try to do just to keep communicating with him even though I'm busy with something.<br /><br />So, Judah latched the seatbelt part of the stroller and started saying he had a baby in the stroller. He was talking to the baby in a high-pitched (moreso than he usual high pitch - ha) voice, "Hi, Baby. Want to walk, Baby? Okay!" It was adorable.<br /><br />He kept showing this "baby" things in the garage. Judah saw the paint tray from Jake painting the house, and he said, "Daddy's paint!" Then he worked SO HARD to turn the stroller around so "the baby" could see Daddy's paint. I asked him about his baby a few times, and he would answer and then keep talking to the baby. Finally, I said, "Judah, what's the baby's name?" He quickly answered, "God." I was dumb-stricken. God was sitting in that stroller! Judah kept going on with his game, completely unaware of the power of his words and his imagination.<br /><br />I kept working, well aware that God was sitting in the stroller, watching everything going on. A few minutes later, Judah almost knocked some paint over. I started to get upset, then I remembered -- God was sitting in the stroller. How should I react? What should I say? I directed Judah and his stroller in a different direction and explained that he almost knocked the paint over and needed to watch where he was going. "Okay, Mommy," he said and went on with his game.<br /><br />This very small part of the day stuck with me, though. I should ALWAYS act as if God was sitting in the room, watching everything I'm saying and doing. My little 2 year old convicted me in a big way today, and it is an experience that will stick with me for a long time.</div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-81600416496406555102010-05-03T14:29:00.005-05:002010-05-03T14:46:51.756-05:00Such Pure Truth<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3Ruy3il1lg9KN9jlay6FlnNic1BpmBOtV16rABX_ZzEBts61TfuRLrvhpsp9HfKXiv-lsqhTFhRPe9Pl5klgldMPqXabRiSbrxJlr131W503BIxXdxVdSKedcLfwshTZv1FbRty3p7M/s1600/Brody+swing.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467129179715409058" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3Ruy3il1lg9KN9jlay6FlnNic1BpmBOtV16rABX_ZzEBts61TfuRLrvhpsp9HfKXiv-lsqhTFhRPe9Pl5klgldMPqXabRiSbrxJlr131W503BIxXdxVdSKedcLfwshTZv1FbRty3p7M/s400/Brody+swing.jpg" /></a> Brody LOVES to swing outside on the swingset. Judah loves to go fishing with Daddy.<br /><br /><div>I had the most interesting conversation with Judah this morning. We were playing outside (as we do almost all day, every day anymore), and we started talking about people being mean. I told Judah that it isn't good to be a mean person. </div><div>Judah asked, "Why?" This is a normal response to most everything we say to him. </div><div>I wanted to be clear this time that I knew what he was asking. I said, "Why are people mean?"</div><div> Judah replied, "Yeah." </div><div> I said, "Because they need to know Jesus." </div><div>Judah said, "I know Jesus." </div><div>I said with a smile, "You do!?" </div><div>Judah replied, "Yes, I know Jesus. He helps people." </div><div>I said, "Really?" </div><div>Judah responded, "Yes!" Then he paused and added, "Batman, too. He helps people. Jesus helps people, too. I like 'em." </div><div> </div><div>Judah went on to say several more times that he knows Jesus. It made my heart swell that he is learning who Jesus is and feels that he knows Him! I owe a big thank-you to his extremely patient Sunday School teacher, Roberta, who does such a great job teaching all of the kids about Jesus and how we should all be kind. I'm glad, too, that he is learning about Jesus from Jake and I at home. </div><div> </div><div>I'm looking forward to a very joyful and blessed week. He enjoys drawing and coloring. But, there HAS to be a crayon or pencil behind his ear AT ALL TIMES. Such a boy. I think he's seen a few of the men in his life do this while building things.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji_NoHC8iFWBntrZt45QllZsXw0P97Fu0Qxbe1e8YWzyjil3pHE1vraSPAd64AFyifjj7_sjy2P3g6ouYgRiLc5XNtAt3VEoEoLlOmVUlpXMXJ3A5snRdJWJaoH3p0u5qVHoOInKk7sv4/s1600/DSCN3548.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455636145643638562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji_NoHC8iFWBntrZt45QllZsXw0P97Fu0Qxbe1e8YWzyjil3pHE1vraSPAd64AFyifjj7_sjy2P3g6ouYgRiLc5XNtAt3VEoEoLlOmVUlpXMXJ3A5snRdJWJaoH3p0u5qVHoOInKk7sv4/s400/DSCN3548.JPG" /></a> While hanging out with his older cousins, Judah decided it was time to scare his parents and jump on a skateboard. He LOVED it and talked about it for DAYS. He will now jump on his skateboard and tell me, "Jake says, 'Bend knees. Arms out. Look where going.'" He knows how it works for sure. And truthfully, he's pretty good for a 2 year old!<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0u_rLcTDErgILmdnLimgIJM6T3DPBQ5v9hhIevipxpawu4I6IobiZl1czX2jSRP-2PmqWmjbybyISB5HXuvMPnFYESmGzYrLH7D9FCFNEDDo3eMDSs8e0awsSkp-NQq4_71AX3UQLQG8/s1600/DSCN3546.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455636137743597874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0u_rLcTDErgILmdnLimgIJM6T3DPBQ5v9hhIevipxpawu4I6IobiZl1czX2jSRP-2PmqWmjbybyISB5HXuvMPnFYESmGzYrLH7D9FCFNEDDo3eMDSs8e0awsSkp-NQq4_71AX3UQLQG8/s400/DSCN3546.JPG" /></a> The people in Judah's life are also important to him. He will talk a lot these days about "Jake and Chris" (his cousins pictured here). The skateboarding was fun for him, but it was a fantastic bonding experience for Judah. He feels a connection with them both now, as seen in how he talks about them and skateboarding, as well as how much more he prays for Jake and Chris. And when I bake something special, like cake or pie, he always says we have to share with Jake and Chris.<br /><br />I absolutely love the stage we are in now. Judah is getting more and more talkative, and he "practices" almost everything he hears. He is fun to talk with. Brody is such a bright-eyed boy with a curiousity for most everything he can see. </div><div> </div><div>Hope everyone out there is able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful spring that has arrived!<br /><div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-30281639296443233752010-03-15T14:13:00.004-05:002010-03-15T14:39:18.388-05:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieTo49TmsR4Y3-huQ_uHp7N9ZlB_9lF8q58gKtJhjmcMp0bykunAh-e6O5SM0pjhRThD214TmfCcUSih-EEw11d0d41k22iCDWsYED1Dvdih2bg-qaf4gXJI5mikHXYVu2YaWS1PUW1W8/s1600-h/IMG_0123.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448942556511309298" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieTo49TmsR4Y3-huQ_uHp7N9ZlB_9lF8q58gKtJhjmcMp0bykunAh-e6O5SM0pjhRThD214TmfCcUSih-EEw11d0d41k22iCDWsYED1Dvdih2bg-qaf4gXJI5mikHXYVu2YaWS1PUW1W8/s400/IMG_0123.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />Judah is a very happy boy. That is the compliment we get from nursery workers all the time. He just smiles so easily. His eyes light up with every smile.<br /><p><br /><br />I came upon an old list of things a few days ago. It isn't just an ordinary list, either. It is a list of my actual experiences, things I've thought about doing, and all of my possibilities. It was so interesting to see how many things from the "things I've thought about doing" category I have started to do. "Raising kids" is the big one that I have begun to do. Singing at church is another thing on the list that I have started to do (along with playing my bass).<br /><p><br />I found myself thinking about all of the things on the list that I have always wanted to do but haven't. I wonder if I'll ever be able to learn the things that I want to start "someday." On this list are things like: Make a quilt, make GOOD salsa, and make our own clothes. I don't know how I can begin to learn these things while I have little boys running around and very interested in things I'm doing (especially if it involves scissors!). I do have these things on my list of things to attempt "someday." I'm just hoping that I can dive into them fully at some point.<br /><p><br />Are there things you have on your "list" that you want to try someday? I encourage you to write them down and try one soon. I know I plan on attempting something new soon. It might even be something I've added to my list, too.</p>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-45739839285527135682010-03-03T10:00:00.006-06:002010-03-03T10:24:13.271-06:00Good times<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQOevXgJdI_CkMUr7zTEbbdla878bU07l2Cv7R9CUQW_JyLq4_sjKPoIZoDWZ2BaePQkukt1_5p45BytO6i8MVsR9lxoCPi0CRvK_ZAtuwXjZtEhumQxbmiIBEOEVNTT9mqHaL-DyFysM/s1600-h/IMG_0073.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 254px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444438748697051362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQOevXgJdI_CkMUr7zTEbbdla878bU07l2Cv7R9CUQW_JyLq4_sjKPoIZoDWZ2BaePQkukt1_5p45BytO6i8MVsR9lxoCPi0CRvK_ZAtuwXjZtEhumQxbmiIBEOEVNTT9mqHaL-DyFysM/s400/IMG_0073.JPG" /></a><br /><div>My boys are so unbelieveably cute. I am so proud of them! I just needed a post to say it to the world. </div><div></div><div></div><div>Judah is a really good boy all around. He is kind, compassionate, and helpful. He loves to do things for others. Judah enjoys making people laugh. He is currently working on his ABCs and counting. We are still working on colors, but he knows them pretty well. Judah can count to 10 by himself, and last night he shocked Jake by counting to 14 by himself. </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Brody is a very happy baby. He LOVES to jump in the jumper, and he is mastering the walker in the kitchen. </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Jake is a very busy man lately. He has been working VERY hard, trying to make the business better, as any business man tries to do! When he gets home, he doesn't really get a break, because Judah attacks him and demands to tackle, toss a ball, or play hide-and-seek. Brody just lights up when he sees Jake anytime. Even if he hears Jake's voice, Brody has to stop what he's doing and look for Daddy! It is so awesome to see the love for Daddy from the boys. It is also awesome to see such a fantastic dedication from Jake for his boys. </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>I am such a lucky lady to have such a wonderful husband, who is a fabulous father. The news a couple of weeks ago said that this past December 2009, Northeast Kansas got more snow than ever recorded. It's no wonder people are getting tired of the snow. <br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw6LwuZbnbLE3mWjUx8jelLywj9BE_aU8jYxDvXklZQpwCsejX3iJ-h2FWgGNrOc7q7ncUmlOtTsByah8P-Bh43aU6TnUF7zYQaxyStWybzZWb35gL6WXbyWli69AqL37zH2WsHby9Js8/s1600-h/IMG_9841.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426989684199866226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw6LwuZbnbLE3mWjUx8jelLywj9BE_aU8jYxDvXklZQpwCsejX3iJ-h2FWgGNrOc7q7ncUmlOtTsByah8P-Bh43aU6TnUF7zYQaxyStWybzZWb35gL6WXbyWli69AqL37zH2WsHby9Js8/s400/IMG_9841.JPG" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxG9bVEKThp9iDLFOPPKEdLSi-3JbJI5a9CSHbnOvXsOuXYfUmBiMagsru-jHXkRqrsxzzboOk10IdU4VzD1xqRufyluityGydQ8PVkLHcVL5KMZMvRC1dXr6WOsE-EvKs2NNaCwJoVIU/s1600-h/IMG_9846.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426989688292225970" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxG9bVEKThp9iDLFOPPKEdLSi-3JbJI5a9CSHbnOvXsOuXYfUmBiMagsru-jHXkRqrsxzzboOk10IdU4VzD1xqRufyluityGydQ8PVkLHcVL5KMZMvRC1dXr6WOsE-EvKs2NNaCwJoVIU/s400/IMG_9846.JPG" /></a><br />Still, even though people are tired of the snow, I wish they would relax a little and try to see the beauty in God's creation -- even in the winter. The snow falling from the sky in its soft, delicate, quiet way is beautiful. And, just as we stop to admire a rainbow or beautiful sunset, the snow in all its beauty deserves to be admired as well. </div><div> </div><div>Someone told me that it is beautiful, but they had more of a right to be upset by it because I didn't have to get up in the wee hours and drive anywhere. While she was correct, I do have to get out in the weather (with 2 kiddos in tow!) for different reasons. Also, along with all of my other mommy-friends, I have to keep my kids INSIDE, entertained, and happy. That isn't always easy to do all winter long. There are days that I long to go for a walk in the sunshine, but that will have to wait until spring. </div><div> </div><div>For now, I'm off to read a pile of books to the boys. I asked Jake to run and get me some castor oil, because I figured it couldn't hurt! So, he ran to the store to get it. While he was gone a storm started to roll in, and with it came contractions about 7 minutes apart. When Jake got back, we thought we should probably get stuff ready in case we needed to go to the hospital.<br /></div><div>Jake was eating dinner, and the contractions just got closer together. We then started our drive into the hospital at about 7pm. At that point, the contractions were about 2 minutes apart. Jake was pretty shocked, as was I. But not as shocked as when we got to the hospital and they said I was still just dilated to 1cm and about 50% effaced. I thought there would have been more progress from my doctor's appointment the week before. So, Jake and I started walking the hospital. It was very late that Sunday night, and the hospital was dark and quiet. We walked for hours . . . and my legs were so sore. I did get to soak in the tub a couple of times, and that was really nice! Those moments in the hospital with Jake were precious and fun. Jake had me laughing so hard that I h<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLt_eFHIWBvhOHD3-yUsKas9zvWDBYATqxArufQqbFD6I1i8XtzDB2ctf4mKJIIJumqqiC6UYyMM4M8H0U6m5qKgoigqPOjVyUMyta7f0gH4CkBmg9o_mb-K4_I96O4C_WtM5bbJ4FCY0/s1600-h/brodydad1.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392894073704381554" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLt_eFHIWBvhOHD3-yUsKas9zvWDBYATqxArufQqbFD6I1i8XtzDB2ctf4mKJIIJumqqiC6UYyMM4M8H0U6m5qKgoigqPOjVyUMyta7f0gH4CkBmg9o_mb-K4_I96O4C_WtM5bbJ4FCY0/s400/brodydad1.jpg" /></a>ad to stop walking many times and catch my breath. (Oh, I am so lucky to have such a great husband!) </div><br /><br /><div>Sometime in the early morning hours, the nurses and my midwife decided to start me on pitocin in order to regulate the contractions. They were there, but they just weren't doing enough. </div><div> </div><div>By lunchtime, I was dilated to 5cm and my water broke . . . but I was not dilating any more. It was like things had stalled. With the epidural in and working (very, very) well, I couldn't go walking anymore. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_FVS-_3ztMTWjZGHRgwp7Hn1vyjTlTt6nivkZ4Yks5Kk_Z62Y9VC4t6qwECQnGn_MOyb-iynvszvFbOh0_wsS4m9bqAV6M0Zx2D3I0zf9UMLjaC09oBCO869oUMSsXQPLqu7SE_WbgXs/s1600-h/danabrody.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 267px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392894084304396418" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_FVS-_3ztMTWjZGHRgwp7Hn1vyjTlTt6nivkZ4Yks5Kk_Z62Y9VC4t6qwECQnGn_MOyb-iynvszvFbOh0_wsS4m9bqAV6M0Zx2D3I0zf9UMLjaC09oBCO869oUMSsXQPLqu7SE_WbgXs/s400/danabrody.jpg" /></a></div><div> </div><div>My nurse Shannon finally had a great idea by 1:40pm. She said she could feel the baby's head, and he felt like he was face-up, which could have been holding things up. She said that I needed to get on my hands and knees and rock back-and-forth. Shannon said that she didn't know why, but it worked to help turn the baby and get things moving. So, with Shannon's and Jake's help, I got on my hands and knees (I couldn't really feel my legs too much ... the epidural was really working well.) and rocked for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, I laid back down and instantly told Shannon that I felt I needed to push. She checked me again, and I was dilated to a 10!!! They called Kim, my midwife, who was luckily at the hospital next door. At one point, with my eyes closed, I said, "I really feel like I need to push!" Jake said, "I'm not qualified to deal with that!" I opened my eyes and noticed that he and I were the only ones in the room, as my nurse was calling my midwife to get there right away. </div><div> </div><div>Kim got there just in time. A contraction came, and they told me to push. So, I pushed three times through ONE contraction, and Brody was here. It was amazing that he came so fast!! </div><div> </div><div>In the moment that they set him on my lap, I said, "He looks like a Brody. He is so beautiful." </div><div> </div><div>So, on August 10, 2009, Brody arrived weighing 7lbs 11oz and was 20.5 inches long. At 1 month old, he weighed in at 10lbs and 11oz (75%) and 22.5 inches long (85%). Now, at 2 months old, he weighs 14lbs and 7.5oz (97%) and is 24.5 inches long (95%). He is growing beautifully. He is smiling freely and even laughing a little! </div></div></div>Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-86675969297071502932009-07-24T16:07:00.009-05:002009-07-24T16:39:55.168-05:00Summer Fun<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqfj7e3eGxWepUWfpZCrpDLBT_eed4KYHDvoi-572jEpPUijK3nbByoB2iEHwlZGYbevQaaY5DMEkVxVKIIouSeWuhj3RlL1OscdNJkvQJduNU0qiwGBUhLHjiHBJMrt8m4zx9T6mCmFY/s1600-h/DSCN3123.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqfj7e3eGxWepUWfpZCrpDLBT_eed4KYHDvoi-572jEpPUijK3nbByoB2iEHwlZGYbevQaaY5DMEkVxVKIIouSeWuhj3RlL1OscdNJkvQJduNU0qiwGBUhLHjiHBJMrt8m4zx9T6mCmFY/s400/DSCN3123.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362141783743155426" border="0" /></a>It really was a day like any other, so I'm not really sure what made it such a great day for me. I should have been dead-tired, being up with Judah (and due to pregnancy) half the night. For some reason, I wasn't tired at all. I truly believe God gave me the energy I needed to have a really great day with my son.<br /><br />The day started like any other, being busy around the house and getting stuff done. Then, I decided to take Judah outside to play in the kiddie pool in the backyard. We hadn't done that in a long time, so he was thrilled with it. We dragged the small slide over to the pool so he could slide into the water. I sat poolside with my feet in the water and enjoyed the beautiful morning sunshine.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);">(This is Judah trying on his friend Sophia's sunglasses. I can't remember the last time I played in the grass like that. Judah wanted to swing, so I pushed him on the swings for a long time. Then, Judah wanted to play with the ball, so we kicked the ball back and forth for the longest time! It was really fun!<br /><br />Naptime, for a change, was easy. After lunch, I put Judah in bed and he was out pretty quickly and slept really well. I was able to get a few things done and lay down myself for a short time.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);">(This is a picture of Judah's bruise on his head. We kicked the ball in the living room (he can kick really really hard, too!). Then, we played catch. Judah is getting really really good at catching a ball! I'm impressed! After playing catch, it was time for baseball. Judah likes to pitch, so I batted first. Then we switched it around and he batted for awhile. Not too far into our baseball game, Jake got home. (When Jake gets home, Mama isn't so "cool" anymore...so Judah was off to play ball with Dad for awhile, which is fine.)<br /><br />The whole day was just full of play. It was more than what I've mentioned here. We didn't just play ball, although looking back we did that a LOT. But, Judah and I took time to play with blocks and cars and the dogs outside. We took time to read a book and toss his Froggie around a little bit. We even found some energy (only from God) to rough-house a little bit. I was able to flip him around just a little, until my belly said, "No more!"<br /><br />The day ended gracefully, as only a great day like that could. Judah stayed in a wonderful mood and went down for bed quite easily. As I write all of this, the day seems simple enough, but it's a day that I will remember -- for me and Judah. It meant a lot to me to have a full day of playing with Judah and really having FUN together. It's like it was a day by which summer is defined. Look up "summer" in a dictionary and that day will be recorded there. All that was missing was a glass of lemonade and some slices of watermelon at the end of the day. But, we'll save that for another day.<br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);">(These are pictures of Judah with a box turtle that we found. He thought it was pretty cool. I cry laughing every time I watch it! He makes us laugh so much!<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzXPYJq_aGeQKLsi8IDzOBv-CIemoiquxUlYSH_e_J6yQVLK9sX3zYaoI00q-EVh6bNquVYDr60_YRCtrn2aA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br />So, Judah is a HUGE fan of the opening credits to the show <span style="font-style: italic;">Chuck</span>. I am not kidding when I tell you that we had to watch the same 30 seconds of a song about 25-30 times (at LEAST!). H did not want to stop! But, Jake and I were laughing so hard that we didn't care. You can't hear Jake laughing much on the video, but every time I looked at him, he was hysterically laughing (quietly). It was a fun time. <br /><br />After all of these dancing videos, you are probably going to think that we never put Judah in pants. I assure you that we do. After getting his diaper changed (especially in the evening before bed), he jumps up before I get pants on him. This is when he wants to dance and run around.<br /><br />Have a great week!Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435544685520025333.post-89858222824482887112009-04-01T16:02:00.005-05:002009-04-01T19:09:37.964-05:00A really fun time<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrKWTZk-wgSkK54ZA798-I9X1BUw2_qym_XHimaoPcSYn0YVnPrZOq9uDpd5WyLMOLZK3zrBiEzGDBuNMfLVLnQ0Qk2Wh6eYjcNT8w1YZnP098ktUxNLKvVLeytBXYanJriRogNiPt3Qo/s1600-h/DSCN2938.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrKWTZk-wgSkK54ZA798-I9X1BUw2_qym_XHimaoPcSYn0YVnPrZOq9uDpd5WyLMOLZK3zrBiEzGDBuNMfLVLnQ0Qk2Wh6eYjcNT8w1YZnP098ktUxNLKvVLeytBXYanJriRogNiPt3Qo/s400/DSCN2938.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319833666602284514" border="0" /></a><br />Judah and I had a LOT of fun this afternoon, baking cookies of all things to do to have a fun time!<br /><br />I'd heard of a trick to keep little ones happy and entertained -- put soapy water in the sink and let them play! I was skeptical, but I figured I'd give it a try! So, I put some water in the sink with soap and a plastic cup. Slowly, I added measuring cups and spoons as I made up the cookie dough. I stripped Judah down to his diaper, set him on the counter with his feet in the water, and let him at it. At first, Judah was also skeptical, especially of the bubbles (he doesn't really know what to think of them yet). But, he slowly warmed up to the idea of putting water in the cup and pouring it out! Wow! What fun! <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHDfJip4HXIRDWoSnjNCqVrWN6SDOI67g158r67KuqPhptXTSo7psVGvCmEoAnUD4muXnhzG0nxkQjK-oDxp7oNhN0Z8b5hlSKaP5kI21sAzLRHBRpTfW5uBPXJFspMsp98to58mPyvjk/s1600-h/DSCN2932.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHDfJip4HXIRDWoSnjNCqVrWN6SDOI67g158r67KuqPhptXTSo7psVGvCmEoAnUD4muXnhzG0nxkQjK-oDxp7oNhN0Z8b5hlSKaP5kI21sAzLRHBRpTfW5uBPXJFspMsp98to58mPyvjk/s400/DSCN2932.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319833665528087170" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Eventually, Judah started not only pouring out the water from the cup, but shaking it violently as well. I figured that him throwing water into the other sink was no big deal. After a little while, he began pouring just a little water out onto the floor. I could not help but laugh, so it continued. My floor was a little sticky right there anyway, so I just figured he was helping me get the floor cleaned! It was too funny to watch. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZlMZRnUJCqO8tFZnlkdxoF1EbUdfoJZl4worbkaqCCuFeKCw8YMqhSNmcg9iHmW5dg49OxsKRd2ohTbSu6EsmkzGt4eSYWN8gDVPv2D1wx1sFhkFBde-pzmtrzb0QPkaBOP5zIuGfD7w/s1600-h/DSCN2931.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZlMZRnUJCqO8tFZnlkdxoF1EbUdfoJZl4worbkaqCCuFeKCw8YMqhSNmcg9iHmW5dg49OxsKRd2ohTbSu6EsmkzGt4eSYWN8gDVPv2D1wx1sFhkFBde-pzmtrzb0QPkaBOP5zIuGfD7w/s400/DSCN2931.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319833659579104690" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Judah kept reaching into the sink to grab things and inspect them. Then, he grabbed the drain, and of course, there went all the water! I figured he would be done. He continued looking around, trying to figure things out. He put the drain back, plugging the water and remaining bubbles. Then, he figured out how to turn on the water. (Yes, I made sure he didn't turn it on hot!)<br /><br />I was just hoping that he would NOT figure out how the sprayer worked!! Well, my hopes were dashed when he unexpectedly sprayed himself in the chest! He was NOT happy about it, so he put the sprayer back. I fully expected to be sprayed any minute, but I wasn't!!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbzcdZLCum0PNo7Y9DxPu8-JWMG5SI5KysFyysC6RC67Rr-_AMJt1uPwVAPEYI9qU2dV7A95-ZX-o9kePkSXkq-LdGEzKB3A6hYPNzSrOS6762qhCl-5Iwy4RuVmMjbglnukQuXOL6Ag0/s1600-h/DSCN2930.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbzcdZLCum0PNo7Y9DxPu8-JWMG5SI5KysFyysC6RC67Rr-_AMJt1uPwVAPEYI9qU2dV7A95-ZX-o9kePkSXkq-LdGEzKB3A6hYPNzSrOS6762qhCl-5Iwy4RuVmMjbglnukQuXOL6Ag0/s400/DSCN2930.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319833651271696674" border="0" /></a><br />There was a little bit of a Hershey's candy bar sitting on the window sill (I'd forgotten that it was there!), and I looked up at one point and Judah had it all in his hand, happily eating it.<br />I knew I could make a choice to be upset and take it away or just let it go and laugh.<br /><br />I <span style="font-style: italic;">laughed!!!</span> It felt so good to just let go and laugh about it. It was REALLY funny!!<br />Yes, in the pictures he is holding a handful of chocolate AND a toothbrush!!!<br /><br />It has been a long time since I've laughed as hard as I did today. I almost wet my pants a few times, because I was laughing so hard! (It has something to do with being pregnant, I'm sure!!!) I feel like God taught me a lesson today, that I can make a choice about things and let things go and not be angry about little things! Yep, I had to get on my hands and knees and clean the floor with rags. Yep, I had to do the same with my counters, Yep, I had to clean chocolate off Judah and wipe him down. Yep, it took me a little longer to mix up the cookies. <span style="font-style: italic;">OH WELL!</span> I know that both Judah and I had a great time laughing and enjoying the moment. I pray today that I will open my eyes in the future to more moments like this and take the time to laugh more.<br /><br />Have you laughed today? Have you <span style="font-style: italic;">really</span> laughed today?Danahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09457493766357268948noreply@blogger.com4
